CAMPUS MOVIEFEST:  THE LARGEST STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD LAUNCHES ITS NEXT U.S. TOUR IN THE CALIFORNIA BAY AREA

August 25, 2006:  ATLANTA, GA - Campus MovieFest (CMF), the world’s largest student movie-making event, is launching its 2006-2007 world tour in the California Bay Area.  Credited as being one of the most exciting programming opportunities on college campuses across the country, CMF is proud to announce that students from the University of California Berkeley, Stanford University, San Jose State University, Sonoma State, and other Bay Area schools will have access to everything they need to create short movies.  CMF will provide the opportunity for 10,000 students to share their stories and creativity with their friends, their communities, and the world.

Each school will participate in weeklong movie-making events, during which hundreds of teams of student filmmakers get the latest Apple laptops with movie-editing software, digital camcorders, and training to capture their stories with the power of film.  Movies are then judged by fellow students & staff members, with top movie showcases at university-wide finale events.  With a red carpet, a klieg spotlight in the sky, and attendance that has rivaled graduation crowds, the finales ensure the students feel like stars. This fall, CMF is excited to offer over $50,000 worth of prizes for the California Bay Area events to filmmakers and attendees – including Apple computers and iPods, plus opportunities for nationwide exposure to millions of viewers.

“The student adrenaline in Northern California is extremely high.  Everyone is jumping at the opportunity to make a movie, discover their passion, and have a ton of fun with friends.  What else can you ask for, really?” said Dan Costa, CMF Co-founder and President.

Campus MovieFest is especially proud to announce a partnership with Turner Classic Movies (TCM) for the Bay Area Events.  TCM and CMF are excited to offer students the opportunity to create the next short film that could stand the test of time, and a chance to see their movie air nationwide.

“Successful and acclaimed filmmakers don’t materialize out of thin air – they start with an idea, a vision or a story to tell,” said Tom Karsch, executive vice president and general manager of TCM. “We’re proud to partner with Campus MovieFest in not only recognizing student achievement but also encouraging the next generation of talented artists to continue to stretch the boundaries of film.”

“We couldn't be more excited to launch our partnership with Turner Classic Movies, enabling students to let millions of viewers know what "classic" means to them. TCM and CMF share a focus on the next generation of filmmakers who can create movies that can change the world” said David Roemer, CMF Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer.

About Campus MovieFest:

Four students at Emory University wondered what would happen if they gave all freshman halls an Apple laptop, a digital camcorder, and a week to make their own short movies. When 1,500 students packed Glenn Memorial Auditorium to see the results, the original team's dream began to share the event, Campus MovieFest, with students around the world.  The four students graduated and founded Ideas United, LLC, so they could pursue their passion. Ideas United has since provided all the necessary movie-making technology and training to more than 50,000 students at Campus MovieFest events.
About Ideas United:
In addition to running Campus MovieFest, Ideas United produces other movie-related events and offers an array of professional services including digital video and print production, specializing in both personal and corporate projects.
