  1. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Contest void wherever prohibited or otherwise restricted by law.
  2. No purchase necessary to enter or win a prize. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning.
  3. The legal sponsor of Contest (“Legal Sponsor”) is: Ideas United, LLC, 750 Glenwood Ave SE, Suite 330, Atlanta, GA 30316. Additionally, the Contest may feature one or more organizations that provide support and are recognized as partners or sponsors of Contest (“Contest Sponsors”).
  4. Your entry must consist of three elements: (1) creator name, e-mail address, and phone number entered in the registration system at www.campusmoviefest.com; (2) your completed movie submitted prior to the event deadline listed on www.campusmoviefest.com; and (3) electronic consent submission by each person appearing in your movie of both a general release and a cast list through the online movie submission form atcampusmoviefest.com prior to event deadline. A complete entry consists of the above stated three elements. Incomplete entries may not be judged and are subject to disqualification. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions, which will be made in Sponsor’s sole discretion and are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.
  5. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein. To create your movie, follow these guidelines:
    • All members of the team creating the entry and all on-camera and/or voiceover talent must confirm their participation via electronic agreement to the Movie Release and/or Talent Release by checking the "I agree" box through the online movie submission form at campusmoviefest.com prior to the corresponding Campus Movie Fest (“CMF”) premiere event where winners and prizes are awarded (“Premiere”).
    • You must have the authority to transfer all rights to your entry to Ideas United, LLC and its partners.
    • You and your team members, sans on-camera and/or voiceover talent, must be current (not having graduated before May 20, 2022) part-time or full-time students at a college or university in the United States of America.
    • The entry must follow all other category guidelines as posted at the time of submission on www.campusmoviefest.com, including not violating any laws or school policies, and not limited to those rules/policies surrounding COVID-19, which vary based on school, local, and state entities
    • Your entry must not violate the rights of any other person or entity including but not limited to defamation, slander, or libel. Additionally, please note that no member of your team may do any of the following: (1) make any comment to the media (including but not limited to any reporter, author, producer, director, or blogger, or in any social media or online forum), whether “on the record” or “off the record,” regarding, in whole or in part, any Contest Sponsor’s participation in the event (2) issue or publish any press release, article, comment, or other public statement or communication regarding, in whole or in part, any Contest Sponsor’s participation in the Event; or (3) take any photographs, videos, audio recordings, or other recordings on Contest Sponsor’s property or publish any such material online or otherwise. Violation of any of these requirements may result in disqualification from Contest.
  6. Ideas United, LLC does not assume responsibility for phone, technical, network, electronic, computer, hardware or software failure of any kind, stolen, incomplete, garbled, or delayed internet/e-mail computer transmission, or lost, late, misdirected, damaged, illegible, stolen, incomplete, misaddressed entries incorrectly transmitted entries, or any other entry which does not meet the requirements set out in Rule 4. Entries may be disqualified if not complete for any reason.
  7. Throughout the CMF tour year, which begins September 1, 2021 and ends June 26, 2022, there will be two ways entries may be submitted:
    1. Moviemaking Week - There will be one virtual competition event. The event (referred to as a “Moviemaking Week”) is scheduled to occur April 5-11, 2022. To submit an entry during a Moviemaking Week the entry must have been created entirely during that time - no prior filming is permitted. The Moviemaking Week will culminate in a Premiere, where winners and prizes are awarded to entries received during that Moviemaking Week based on the judging criteria detailed in these Rules.
    2. Individual School Event - Entries may also be submitted to individual school competitions that have been officially sanctioned by the school and CMF. These events are promoted and enacted during specific weeks that fall within the current CMF tour year, and are only available to participants that attend the school hosting the event. There is no overlap between these events and the primary Moviemaking Week listed above.
  8. Prizes
    1. Moviemaking Week Prizes. Prizes for Moviemaking Week entries, which are subject to change or substitution at any time based on the sole discretion of Legal Sponsor, and which will be sent to the team captain post-Premiere, include:
      1. Prize packages for the highest-scoring movies submitted at the school level (Jury Award Winners) include:
        1. LUMIX GH5LK Mirrorless Camera with LEICA 12-60mm F2.8-4.0 Lens or Panasonic Lumix G Vario 35-100mm f/4-5.6 lens
      2. Prize packages for special category-winning movies (Silver Tripod Awards) include:
        1. DJI OM 4 SE - 3-Axis Smartphone Gimbal Stabilizer
      3. Price packages for a randomized live show winner (Audience Award) include:
        1. Sennheiser HD1 Momentum 2 headphones
        2. Random assortment of CMF swag items
  9. A panel of judges, from inside and outside participating colleges or universities, the Campus Movie Fest staff, Campus Movie Fest partners, and the surrounding community knowledgeable in the fields of film, music, or student life will consider and score each movie based upon the following criteria in determining the finalists or winners. The three primary criteria (Content, Technical Excellence, Overall Quality) will be scored on a scale from 1 (lowest score) to 20 (highest score), for a total of 60 points. In the event of a tie, Sponsor will employ a separate panel of judges that were not involved in the original round of judging to score the tied movies.
    • Content (20 points total)
      1. Script/story/structure
      2. Creativity
      3. Originality
      4. Coherence
      5. Adherence to/Incorporation of Theme/Topic (for Category and Challenge judging only)
    • Technical excellence (20 points total)
      1. Visual creativity
      2. Cinematography
      3. Sound design and soundtrack
      4. Editing
      5. Effective use of special effects (if applicable)
    • Overall quality (20 points total)
      1. Did the movie affect you?
      2. Did the movie produce an emotional response?
      3. Overall impression
      4. Enjoyment factor
      5. Meaningfulness
      6. Replay value

    In addition, the following criteria will also be considered in determining a movie’s eligibility:

    • Ideas United, LLC, reserves the right for the judging panels to eliminate any entry on the basis of objectionable content, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, including but not limited to guidelines listed online at www.campusmoviefest.com.
    • Additional prize categories may be determined based on criteria announced on www.campusmoviefest.com.
  10. The Moviemaking Week judging will take place in advance of that event’s Premiere date(s). Prizes are non-transferable. There will be neither substitution of prizes nor election of cash in lieu of prizes, except at the sole discretion of Ideas United, LLC. All prizes will be awarded. Winners should allow two months for delivery of the prizes after notification of winning. Prize winner is responsible for all applicable taxes. In the event of prize unavailability, Ideas United reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. If an entry is disqualified, an alternate winner will be selected by the judges based on the judging criteria.
  11. Each entrant warrants and represents that he/she is the creator of the submitted entry, the entry is original and wholly owned by the entrant, the entry is free of any claims by other parties, and that the entry was not created at their job, using their employer’s equipment or on their employer’s time. Each entrant further grants to Legal Sponsor and its partners the right to exhibit, broadcast, reproduce, edit, rebroadcast, publicly perform, display, create derivative works of, distribute, post, sublicense, and otherwise use the entries or any parts thereof, in perpetuity worldwide in any manner, without compensation or additional consideration to entrant. Legal Sponsor and its partners are not obligated to display any entry or use any entry in any manner.
  12. By entering the contest, the entrant(s) (a) agree to the official rules and the decisions of the judges which shall be final in all respects; (b) consent to the use of winners’ names and likenesses, and any statements, website account registration information, quotes or testimonials, photographs, designs, models, software, and/or any other audio-visual materials provided by the entrant for advertising, trade and publicity purposes and grants Ideas United, LLC and its authorized agents, licensees, assigns, and designated partners the rights to reprint, display, reproduce, perform, exhibit and sell the entry without limitation and without any additional compensation to the winner or any other party, except where prohibited by law; (c) release Ideas United, LLC, its subsidiaries, sponsors, partners, and affiliates, and their directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by participation in the contest, by any prize, or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize; and (d) agree that entries shall not contain obscene or offensive imagery or audio (as determined by Legal Sponsor in its sole discretion), nudity, sexual activity, illegal activity, defamatory content, unauthorized trademarks, copyrighted or confidential material, or any other inappropriate materials as determined by Legal Sponsor.
  13. Upon receipt, the actual entry and/or movie submitted becomes the property of Legal Sponsor and will not be returned.
  14. Employees and contractors of Ideas United, LLC, affiliates, advertisers, sponsors, and partners of Campus Movie Fest, advertising and promotion agencies (“Released Parties”) or members of their immediate families are not eligible to enter the contest. Individuals are eligible to enter only if they are, at the time of entry, either (1) a legal resident of the United States of America who is at least 18 years old at time of entry (or for whom a legal guardian or parent will execute Sponsor's legal documents) and is actively enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at a United States college or university; OR (2) an international student who is at least 18 years old at time of entry (or for whom a legal guardian or parent will execute Sponsor's legal documents) and is actively enrolled in a United States college or university at the time of entry into the contest.
  15. By entering into the Contest all participants agree to release and hold harmless Released Parties from and against any claim or cause of action - including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property - arising out of or connected in any way with their participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize.
  16. The Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants or by any of the programming associated with the Contest; (2) unauthorized human action in any part of the process; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest; (4) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. If for any reason an entrant's entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another entry in the Contest, provided that, if it is not possible to award another entry due to discontinuance of the Contest, or any part of it, for any reason, Legal Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may elect to hold a random drawing from among all eligible entries received up to the date of discontinuance for any or all of the prizes offered herein. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded.
  17. Disputes: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, Entrant and Legal Sponsor shall attempt to resolve the matter themselves in an amicable manner. Failing such resolution, any disputes under this Agreement arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Georgia, without resort to any form of class action. If a court is required to hear any matters arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded jurisdiction shall lie exclusively with either the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia or an appropriate Georgia State Court located in DeKalb County, Georgia; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Georgia without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Georgia or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Georgia.
